Hyde Park High School Fees (2022)

The school is a quantile 5 public and a fee-paying school. This does not mean that a learner cannot be expelled from any official school programs due to non-payment of school fees, and a learner’s report may not be retained owing to unpaid school costs as is common with most fee-paying schools.

Before we go further, let’s understand the meaning of the quantile levels.

  • Quantile 1, 2, and 3 schools have been designated as no-fee schools, receiving the support of R1,177 per student from the Department of Education.
  • Quantile 4 schools are fee-paying schools that receive R590 per student.
  • Quantile 5 schools are also fee-paying because they only receive ZAR204.00 per month from the government and can’t afford to run the school solely on government finances.

Parents or guardians who are unable to pay their child’s school fees must apply to the SGB for a conditional, partial, or complete exemption.

For the fees, you need to contact the school to know the exact amount you will pay for a full academic year per student even if it is an initial deposit. Please note that this may not cover the cost of textbooks or other course fees. Fees can be paid monthly, but if a parent chooses to pay in full upfront, there are reductions ranging from 3% to 10% depending on how the payment is completed.
