Johannes Strydom who is professionally known as Hans Strydom was born in Durban, South Africa. As at the time, he was born, the country was battling Apartheid which was rampant at the time but he helped in defending South African blacks after studying Law. Strydom started and finished his primary and secondary school education in his hometown of Durban, South Africa. He further went to the Northwest University in Potchefstroom, South Africa where he acquired a law degree (LLB).

Hans Strydom who is famously known for starring in the award-winning movie “The Gods Must Be Crazy” in 1989 was born on the 14th of May 1947.

Career

Hans graduated from Northwest University in Potchefstroom with a law degree and started working at the Department of Justice in Durban’s Magistrate in 1964. Between the period of 1972 to 1976, he worked as a public prosecutor in Lady Smith and a Magistrate at the head office of the Department of Justice. He later quit his job as a law prosecutor in 1976 to pursue a career in acting.

Hans was one of the two persons to communicate via TV in 1976 when South Africa had its first National Broadcast. He starred in many movies including Generations, The Res, Someone Like You, The Emissary, and further in the popular “The Gods Must Be Crazy” which is famously known.

He won the ATKV award for the best actor in his role in the movie Binnelanders. Also, Hans won a case against SABC, a TV company that did not fully settle actors and actresses for their broadcast and ever since he has been helping them to get the right payment from the broadcasting TV.
