Bishop Israel Makamu was born on the 25th of May, 1978, in Kattlehong, Gauteng, South Africa, to South African parents, Titus Makamu and Rophinia Makamu. Bishop Israel’s father was a pastor and strong preacher of the holy books. He was brought up in the Christian way and learned much from his father before deciding to become a preacher. Bishop Israel Makamu stressed that his father’s lifestyle and preaching influenced him, and right from his tender years, he had the love and wanted to follow in his ways.
