9umba (born in 2002) is a Lesotho-born musician and producer from South Africa. He has rocked the airspace with his song, “Umlando” whose dance has gone viral across the world and on social media. In a previous post, we talked about the uMlando Challenge.


9umba Biography

Letlotlo-la-bakuena Letlatsa was born in Lesotho but lives in South Africa. The Amapiano producer grew up listening to and being influenced by RnB, Soul, Reggae, Soukous, Salsa, and Sotho music.


He is currently a student. The producer is studying Business Management at the University of Pretoria and hopes to graduate with a BComm (Bachelor of Commerce) degree.


He started music professionally in 2015 but as a rapper before eventually settling with the Amapiano genre. It wasn’t until 2020 till he started getting noticed. It was in that year he produced two of some of South Africa’s biggest songs which are uLazi and VSOP. He co-produced VSOP with Busta 929.

In 2022, together with Toss and Mdoovar, they dropped one of 2022 biggest Amapiano hits, “uMlando” which came with its own dance that has since gone viral on social media platforms, especially TikTok. Some other featured artists on the song include Lady Du, Young Stunna, and Sir Trill.

Real Name

His real name is Letlotlo-la-bakuena Letlatsa.


As of 2022, he would be 20 years of age.
